This project is located in Haizhu District, Guangzhou, a historic old city district with a rich architectural heritage. Haizhu District is a typical representation of the old city areas in Guangzhou, facing challenges such as regional development disparities, difficulties in transformation, and inadequate urban renewal.
To address these issues and infuse new vitality into the old city area, we have based our design concept on "heritage + utilization," transforming it into a serviced apartment project. This design concept aims to preserve the original architectural features while reimagining the interior functionality to meet modern needs. We have undertaken structural renovations throughout the entire building, including the reconstruction and widening of staircases to meet fire safety requirements, as well as the addition of elevators for convenient resident access.
In terms of overall design style, we have adopted a harmonious and comfortable approach, incorporating elements of nature to complement the surrounding urban green environment.
The design techniques employed encompass layering and overlapping, interpreted in a way that pays homage to and carries forward the characteristics of Lingnan architecture.
While preserving the building's structure, we have maximized the advantages of high ceilings by dividing the residential spaces into two levels.
The lower level accommodates living and leisure spaces, while the upper level is dedicated to work and storage areas. This design not only enhances the living experience but also optimizes the multifunctionality of the space.
